Charles David Rutledge and Thomas Franklin Rutledge
These photos were loose in the album Mary made for her son Charles.
These photos were glued into the album.

Charles David Rutledge and His Mother
Mary Cornelia created a photo album for her first child, Charles David Rutledge. On the inside cover she wrote this in white ink on the black page:
Charles David Rutledge
Born Oklahoma City, Okla.
Oct. 28, 1918 5:15 AM
8 ¼ lbs. Dr. Fowler’s Mat’y Hosp.
I won't post all the photos because some of them are repetitive. Others are faded and, frankly, not very good. Some will be posted on David Oscar Rutledge's blog because they feature his relatives. She wrote all the labels in white ink, so some of them are difficult to read. Scanning the page soI can increase the size of the image has helped me read them.
I love this photo of little Charlie. As soon as I saw it I knew it was Dad because I swear I've seen that same expression on his adult face. I think I've even got a picture of him to prove it. If I find it, I'll revise this blog post and add it.
Notice the background. Lots of open space and few homes.

Mary Cornelia at Work
The only information I have about this photo is the woman on the right is Mary Cornelia. The typewriter is facing her and the telephone is near at hand, so she appears to be doing secretarial work. Perhaps for one of her father's churches?

Mary Cornelia McGhee Rutledge
Here's another good photograph of Mary Cornelia McGhee. This one was taken in Oklahoma City before she married David Oscar Rutledge.
Mary Cornelia's Sisters Laura and Charlotte
Mary Cornelia's sister Charlotte met Edward Lynch in Oklahoma City. In 1919 she applied for a passport so she could join him and be married in France. Her application says he was an officer retained with "the Army of Occupation." Mary Cornelia was living in Waco, Texas at the time (her husband David Rutledge was a telegrapher for a railroad there.)
The Lynchs settled in Los Angeles, where Edward became a deputy sheriff and she a stenographer for the LA County Superintendent of Schools.
Laura McGhee never married as far as I know. In the 1930 census she is living in the Southwestern Insane Asylum in San Antonio, Texas. She died there 9 August 1930 of a cerebral hemorrhage. Charles Rutledge (my father-in-law) said he was never told what was wrong with her, but he suspected she was mentally handicapped.
